The Creature he created slaughtered his family. Victor was punished by what his vanity gave him. Instead this achievement caused him to be punished by God. Victor Frankenstein is a scientist who is thirsty for the forbidden knowledge, because his Creature made him think he has taken over God’s role. Victor Frankenstein’s actions of playing God are really similar to how Satan acts. The Creature Victor created with his arrogance, resembles Satan in, “Paradise lost.” Satan disobeyed God’s order, and finally become the representation of devil. Victor reached this level by arrogance and vanity. Throughout his studies, he started to find the initial source of life. He left home for years, learning science and working in the laboratory for years. Then both of them had the thirst of the forbidden power, they wanted to have the power to avoid death. This is just like Satan’s childhood in, “Paradise Lost.” Unfortunately, both character’s perspectives were deformed due to the deaths of their mothers. His parents gave lots of love and brought lots of happiness to him. The childhood of Victor Frankenstein was happy. There are lots of similarities in their plots, both combined sins and reality, and a character that disobeys god. There are lots of similar themes found in the famous poem, “Paradise Lost,” written by John Milton.Īt different time periods, both authors created a magnificent master piece.
